We received the following letter in our post today from Storm. We post it in its entirety (because that's what we do.)
Open letter to The Forum Confidential Readers:
Since the 'new' SL Forum opened for business in early March, I have read and still do read comments along the lines of 'there's nothing interesting there' or 'it's boring' or 'I can't find anything'. This last was proven incorrect most recently when Seicher admitted to finding Wilhiam's farewell to SL on a thread as his only 'notification' to her that he was leaving. The fallout has been recorded here on this blog. None of that could ever be written on either the old GDF or the newer version because it would be AR'ed faster than you can blink.
Well, I for one am tired of reading that the SL Forum is not interesting or it is boring. Fine. Do not post there but don't complain when the content you like and to which you will respond is not there. Even the GDF lacked amusing, compelling content at times (but we conveniently forget that). The facts are: discourse has become much more civil, the moderators wield a softer hand, and there are many, MANY new residents creating OPs. Many changes are due to several residents working with LL to make the overall environment and experience better for all.
If you have stayed away because you hear that moderation is atrocious or you cannot find anything, try again. Think of something to post...something compelling, funny, anything! The new voices and some of those you know will respond.
Those who have left for other forums: did you flee to escape the acrimony, the flamewars, the nightmares? All of that can be found in spades on other forums. I take that back. It is not found on SLO (aka the 'dead zone'). Hell, even this blog is full of shit flung in all sorts of directions. You left the SL Forum because you need a place or places to rant openly...to create the flamewars, stoke the fires, use all the nasty words and phrases you would never tolerate a kid saying to your face.
Ima: Your posts here are full of hate and vile. You could never post such shit on the SL forum (although your gun is always cocked) Here, apparently, you sing with a voice that might make ears fold in on themselves. You are bored with the SL Forum. When did you last pen an OP?
Seicher: You have stated you are 'bored' with the SL Forum. What you are really bored with is any topic that you cannot somehow twist to rotate around you. If it's not all about you, it's 'meh' Your life experiences, your feelings, you..you..you. Then create an OP about YOU! Create an OP about music.
Anonymice: I do not know if you are in the SL Forum or not but I invite you back.
The truth about the SL Forum (and I have spent more time on it than all of you together..of that I am certain) is that it is for adult discourse...for adults...and those of you who characterize it as boring or uninteresting are really just reflecting yourselves...boring and uninteresting. I, personally, am glad to not read your rants in the forum - it would BORE me to death, as it has done here.
